Is drinking Diet Coke (with caffeine) the same as water, because that's pretty much all I drink?? I drink Diet coke with Caffeine, maybe a glass of milk once a week on average... How much water am I actually getting from this since caffeine dehydrates, but I am obviously not completely dehydrated?

Birdxtoxman replied: "Does it taste like water?.."

peanut replied: "No. Not even close."

Madeline replied: "That's really bad! Don't drink soda, or even diet soda. The caffeine alone will mess you up, and studies have shown that diet soda drinkers are more at risk for obesity. Water is very healthy for you! Drink at least 8 glasses a day."

PersonalTrainer-AdonisXComplex replied: "drinking deit coke is NOT like drinking water cuz water has no artificial sweetners, will not rot your teeth or make you fat or dehydrae you or...ect ect ect"

Legget replied: "In my opinion, water is likely because of milk"

im freaking obsessed replied: "are potato chips the same as fruit? hmmmm.....you make the call."

greenbean replied: "If some of what you drank was Diet Coke it wouldn't be too bad, because there's not an enormous amount of caffeine in it but if you drink it all the time then that's not as good. Diet Coke itself is nothing like water- it's not just the sugar and caffeine that's bad for you in excess, the phosphoric acid that's in coke will erode the enamel in your teeth, and the general content of it which is chemicals (artifical flavouring/artificial sweeteners/preservatives etc) I'm sure you don't need me to tell you isn't in water at all. The problem with diuretics is that they make you wee more than you need to (regardless of the actual volume involved) and this will make your body retain water in an effort to balance your electrolytes, and if it can't do that then your electrolytes will get out of balance which can make you really ill. Also, water is free and Diet Coke is not, so there's another reason not to drink it so much. And, you're not having any environmental impact if you take water in a reusable bottle from home and drink that all day, rather than cluttering up the planet with all those cans and bottles. And, you're not contributing to the massive swollen coffers of in international company. And, there's no caffeine in water so you won't the caffeine buzz/caffeine crash thing, which just makes you feel like you need something with caffeine in it to perk you back up again. If basically what you're asking is "can Diet Coke be substituted with water" then the answer is no. You're missing the point if you're thinking Diet Coke must be like water because it has virtually no calories in it, like water, because that's only because it's got no sugar in it unlike water which never had any sugar in it in the first place, but Diet Coke still has all the additives, which water never had in the first place either. You need to cut down your Coke consumption, but do it gradually because you'll get caffeine withdrawal headaches if you stop it all suddenly."

Lincoln6 replied: "Certainly not. Diet Coke contains an ingredient called Phosphoric Acid, which is a form of the mineral Phosphorus. Whenever you ingest Phosphorus, it automatically links up with Calcium. Should you have not also ingested Calcium, it will take it from your teeth or bones. Keep doing it and within time you will develop teeth problems from your loss of calcium and a greater likely hood of bone fractures. It's wise for women to take a Calcium Supplement to begin with."

Which has more caffeine- diet coke or iced tea? I guess it depends on what type of tea and how strong it is...I'm just thinking of regular unsweetened tea you get at restaurants vs. diet sodas. maccrew6 replied: "Aspartame (nutrasweet) has been linked to eye abnormalitles in the fetus, and also neurological problems later on. When I was first pregnant 22 years ago the docs said "no problem drink it!" by the time I had my last baby 9 years ago I got handed all these warning pamphlets... Why risk it??"

Emily replied: "usually its sweetened with aspartame if its diet which is not safe it causes brain problems switch to just caffine free"

mandyb replied: "the artificial sweetener is not recommended "

Aims replied: "Any diet soda is bad while you are pregnant"

Jen replied: "yes it is bad.the artificial sugar is actually worse that "real" sugar.and even caffeine free pop still has caffeine in it! i am a Mt. Dew person and it is hard to just not drink it,but i limit to so many drinks of it a week, don't always stick to it,but i try!"

♥Mrs. KC & mum-to-be replied: "Unfortunately, diet soda's all contain aspertame (an artificial sweetener) which is VERY bad for you pregnant or not, its just worse when you are pregnant. It has been proven to cause cancer. The only pop I have found that is caffeine free AND aspertame free is Mug Rootbeer... definitely hits the spot when you NEED a pop!"

B D replied: "you should really try to drink water, believe me i regret it when i was preg. all the extra calories. i had crazy stretch marks lol"

Diet coke caffeine free - will I lose weight? I have been told that drinking drinks which contain caffeine keeps the blood sugar level up but was told if I swap to Diet Coke Caffeine Free this would be better to help me lose weight? Any advice?

Smurph replied: "why dont you just drink water?"

notfromaround_here replied: "caffine causes your body to do weird things when you are trying to lose weight. carbonation from the soda is another awful thing to do to your body. your best bet is to cut down to ONE diet, caffine free soda a day MAXIMUM while maintaining a healthy eating plan and exercise program. check out the book "You on a diet" susan"

anonymous replied: "well you got to diet and stuff too to lose weight and exercising."

cupcakes replied: "Caffeine is bad for you, but can be taken in small amounts. this will not change your weight unless other changes are made."

Oreo replied: "no drink something else like water or something thats not coke! trust me lol"

bec replied: "It's a funny thing look around and most of the people you see drinking diet coke are a little larger. Don't do the whole diet thing, just eat sensible and drink water and excercise."

Sugar PIe replied: "If that is the only change you are making to lose weight, then no, it will not work."

player_862 replied: "it will not help but if you was drinkin regular and then go to diet yes"

Lindsey works magic replied: "No, its just less sugar, it will still have negative effects on your body."

crackermelons replied: "if you cut out sodas it can help jump start weight loss. it is surprising the little things that can be left out to lose weight like butter in cooking, mayo, soda, etc."

Is caffeine free diet coke ok to drink while pregnant? Im 5 weeks pregnant and i drink caffeine free diet coke like its going out of style is that ok or should i stop?

Sarah -first baby!!- replied: "DIET COKE IS A BIG NO NO DURING PREGNANCY. from what i have heard. so dont risk it"

Timid Women Rarely Make History replied: "I'd advise drinking just the regular caffeine free. No one really knows if the artificial sweeteners are completely safe. And there's always root beer, naturally caffeine free."

k9copsgrl replied: "Well, you should taper off the amount you drink as it contains Aspartame. I do drink it but usually only 1 can a week or every other week."

Lanie replied: "You should limit the amount of aspartame that you are taking in. Its not really known what kind of effects it can have on your baby. Try and cut it back for sure to at least only one a day. Ask your doctor at your next appointment and see what he/she says."

Rachie replied: "Talk to your doctor. I know that you can have some soda, caffine, etc. But it is limited. There will be many opinions here, a doctor is your best bet."

BabyMollyDue7-22 replied: "NO! Nothing diet. If you were going to drink a coke you would be better off to drink a regular one. Sucralose, aspartame, and all those sweeteners like that are not healthy for you period, especially while you are pregnant."

? replied: "I would suggest regular caffeine free coke, the diet is still under study. My doctor said that I could have no more than 1 can (12 oz) of caffeine daily...water is going to be the best thing you can drink during pregnancy. Also, orange juice because of the folate in it."

Dr. PHILlis (in training) replied: "Yeah it's okay unless your dr says so. I mean you're early in the game anyways, but make sure you drink lots and lots of water as well if you're gonna drink sodas."

English Beauty baby #2 due Oct09 replied: "i would say its ok, but diet coke or any fizzy pop/soda can cause u to become dehydrated - i know strange as its liquid, but the sweeteners/sugar and the fizz in it actually makes u dehydrated. so make sure ur not just drinking diet coke - make sure u drink plenty of water, tea, juice - anything.."

i drink 2 cans (375ml x2) of caffeine free diet coke everyday. Is that too much? i also drink at least 6 cups of water per day and eat lots of veg and fruits. i just like my soft drink. =P

rock123456789 replied: "i think it is medium i would still care if i were u!"

XOsweetXO replied: "Yes! Even though the coke is diet doesn't mean its better for you. They add extra stuff to the coke to make it diet which is just as bad at regular coke. Coke overall is bad for the body. Try cutting the coke down to one can and try not drinking a can a day, maybe just one every once in a while. Drinking healthier drinks as well is much better for your body and your health! :)"

Ladia replied: "Yeah, it is. There are a lot of preservatives in soft drink. Try juice, or just water."

Do you think that drinking 28 ounces of coffee and 1 to 3 Diet Coke's in one day is too much caffeine? I drink a 20 oz. coffee (Folger's Brand) on my way to work in the morning, followed by a 1- 2 cans of Diet Coke at lunch, a 8 oz. cup of coffee around 2 p.m., and one can at supper. I drink juices or water in between but I'm not sure what the daily alloted amount of caffeine is and if I'm going over it. I have no troubles sleeping or rising.

MEGAME replied: "I think that is to much."

vidya replied: "Yes, I think thats a lot..."

kjhnz306 replied: "Some scientist think to much caffeine will kill you, overall, yes that is a heap of caffeine"

Poet replied: "if you don't have any problems sleeping or waking i wouldn't worry about it. the 64 oz of fluid study included coffee as a fluid."

Brittany M replied: "Yeah, if you don't have an addiction already you may be developing one."

Jessica M replied: "yes that is way too much. your body doesnt even need caffeine at all. with the average american 12-24 ounces is consumed each day. each can is 12ozs if you drink about 3 a day thats already 36 + 28 ozs of coffee is 64 ozs. and this is way much more than you need. only reason your body is ok with it is because your used to it and drink that much every day. slowly cut down, it would be much healthier for you. maybe start with cutting the 20ozs to 12 ozs in the morning. then cutting that down more by only 2 cokes a day. then eventually to maybe 1 can of coke, and 1 cup of coffee a day. but if you do decide to do this, drag it out over a period of weeks because if not, you will go through withdraw."

Joycee replied: "yes"

Dark Amaranth replied: "No, as long as you are having no trouble sleeping or rising, you are just fine. Studies have proven that it takes far more caffeine than what you are consuming for it to be a problem or health concern. For people with a sensitivity to caffeine, it is a whole different matter. The only problem you may face is if you cut back. Then you will have headaches, most likely, for several days. There was a study that said you needed a certain amount of liquid per day, and it did include coffee and tea, as they are made with water. Of course, pure, clean water is best, but caffeine will not harm you in moderation. What you consume falls in the guidelines of "moderate"."

K. R. Thomas replied: "Yes, that is too much. Perhaps you should take a water bottle to work (my mother used to do this when she worked in the city) and fill it with Crystal Light or another favorite drink mix to "cool the jets" of your caffeine addiction. It isn't good for your health, and it may come back to haunt you...in way or another. I know this may not be much, but it could offer a viable suggestion. You might try lemonade, iced tea, or limeade for starters."

random replied: "that is way too much caffeine. that much can mess with your stomach and cause serious heartburn problems later down the line."

John replied: "that is way!!!!! tooo much"

ekc2me replied: "Caffeine is both my best friend and my worst enemy. Diet Mt. Dew is my favorite cold drink (although I can drink them hot I love them so much) and I drink lots of coffee. Besides causing irregular heartbeat, caffeine can have serious negative effects...one being HORRIBLE urinary tract infections!! I have one RIGHT NOW because DMD went on sale...5 twelve packs for $11...and I drank a whole 12 pack in two days. Yeah, that's a lot of caffeine. Be careful. :)"
