Lexapro Free Medication Resource in Q&A
What is the best medication for Major Depression? I am taking Lexapro, which helps. But my Medicare Part D presciption insurance will only pay for 30 pills per month at any dosage level. I really need 40mg/month to be symptom free, but because the plan won't allow me to get 60 tablets at 20 mg each, I have to get 30 tablets at 10mg and 30 tablets at 20mg, for a total dosage of 30mg per day each month. When will generic Lexapro be available? Do I have any other choices? I can barely afford this, and am getting to the point of having to choose between food and medicine. HELP!!!

richard m replied: "friends hope love pray not pills"

coloklute replied: "Honestly you should lay off all those prescriptions and rely on mother nature. Smoke a joint."

bmac replied: "Is the Lexapro working for you if you have the correct dosage? If so, then I would contact the manufacturer directly. They have been doing this more and more--helping people get prescriptions for free, if you qualify. Sounds like you do if you have to choose between food and medication. Forest Laboratories: 909 Third Avenue New York, New York 10022-4731 Phone: 212-421-7850 Fax: 212-750-9152"

shelcom replied: "There is no "best" medicine for depression. Each drug works on people differently and thats why there are so many. If you live in a state where Walmart offers the $4 generic drugs (to anyone, by the way even the uninsured) they offer the generics of Prozac and Paxil. Talk to your doctor to see if one of these drugs could help you. Remember, it takes 4-6 weeks for these medications to work completely and you should wait at least 8 weeks before deciding whether the drug is working for you or not. I'd also consider changing your Part D provider if you can."

the_only_solorose replied: "There are many antidepressants and each of them works differently on different people. If the Lexapro is working for you and your problem is dosage, I'd stick with the Lexapro. Have your doctor call and talk to your provider about extending coverage, or call the manufacturer to see if they will help you as many of them are doing so now."

IMOK replied: "Everyone is effected by different medications differently. What works well for one person, may not work well for another. Call your insurance company and your doctor to try to figure out what you can do to get your full dosage. You may have to switch meds if your insurance still won't allow for you needed dose of Lexapro."

8wanderer replied: "Exercise, keep yourself busy, BE positive, take everything easy, chat and love from friends, love yourself and PRAY. Good luck pal."

I have anxiety, medications?! Lexapro doesn't work for me...! Help? I'm only 15, but my mother has been diagnosed with a chemical imbalance. Don't say it's juts normal hormones for a teenager, I was prescribed 10mg of Lexapro when I was 8 1/2. 10mgs is enough for most young adults if not older. (and yes it was prescription, prescribed by a therapist and doctor I'd been visiting) It was the same amount my mother was taking! Well anyways, I stopped taking it, cause I felt it's adverse effects. Lexapro works for me for the first 3-4 weeks (it takes 2 usually to adjust to your system) then all the sudden, I get a lot worse! Like, panic attacks constantly, and my mood is unbelievably uncontrollable. I tried it again just last year, same effects, 3-4 weeks, great! After that, then came panic attacks... they suck and are horrible. I still have panic attacks/anxiety attacks when I'm not on the medicine, and I usually don't know why or it's caused by something so insignificant that I do not realize it. Is there any other medicines you would recommend? Also, would Adderall work? I know it's for ADD and ADHD, I have ADD, but I don't take anything and never have for it (I get yelled at though, which I don't get, your not willing to help me but feel free to yell at me when I'm trying?!). I've heard that Adderall CAN be used for panic/anxiety. I have three friends on it, one IS on it for a anxiety disorder or something having to do with anxiety, one's on it for ADD, and the other is on it for an unspecified reason. I looked it up a bit, and found that it doesn't have tooo severe effects, aside from loss of appetite/weight losse, nauseau, abdominal pain, and a few other things, but again nothing moderate-severe.

Emo Shayne replied: "go back to your therapist and ask them to prescribe something else, and tell them how you are feeling. answer mine? "

srb0630 replied: "I used xanax, which is very fast working for panic attacks and such, but Klonopin is also good which stays in your system a bit longer if you have that feeling of constant anxiety but not the severity of a panic attack. I was also put on Paxil (an anti depressant) which the Dr. said would help the panic attacks, made them 10 times worse and I only had a 5 day sample. For me xanax or klonopin and my regular Prozac work...talk to a Dr. Usually it takes quite a few attempts to find the right combination and drug for these things, which sucks, but when they find the right stuff it makes a world of difference. Try therapy too, talking in addition to the meds is the best thing you can do."

ken r replied: "paxil can be helpful to combat anxiety and panic disorder. I found that the side affects were undesirable to some extent. Potency can be affected. The other side affect I found undesirable was that sometimes I felt confused when trying to solve problems. For the past couple of years I have taken a different medication called Cipralex. As is the case with many of these drugs, it takes a few weeks to prove effective. Nevertheless, it is helpful. Of course, once you feel better, don't quit taking it. You will go back the other way again.Exercise is also important. Try to add this into your life as well. Plus find positive things to do that can make you feel good about yourself to help build confidence. Medications alone are not always enough.Plus keep a record of your moods and try to discover what seems to influence your negativity and then try to modify your lifestyle to avoid these things. One more thing. If something is really bugging you get to work on solving it or bringing it to a successful conclusion, Otherwise it might keep eating away at you. You don't need added aggravation."

shelia replied: "Paxil works for me, but it does take about a month to fully get in your system. I was having at least one panic attack a day and sometimes more, I seriously didn't think anything could work. But I don't have any now. Never drink caffeine, caffeine will always worsen the attacks, increase exercise because it helps burn off the energy required to have an attack. The best thing to do is try to ignore the attacks, don't concentrate on them, I know this is hard but the more you concentrate on an attack the worse it is because fear causes even more adrenelin to flow through your system. Try to walk it off with a friend and talk about anything besides the attack, the walking will help burn the energy and get it over faster. good luck!"

Is lexapro good or should i try something different? thanks everyone :}

Lisa replied: "I would like to suggest something, but it's not legal or presciption...but if you're pregnant, that's out too."

kendell c replied: "Have you tried tequila? Or beer perhaps."

mae mae replied: "OMg i take lexapro too. and we have like the exact same problems. i also faint from lexapro :[[ stick to lexapro it starts to work after a while."

busybody123 replied: "Sorry. Citalopram worked well with me, but I wasn't as bad. I've never tried anything else and I'm sure your doc has a better idea than these yahoo's."

flyingprimate replied: "when i started having panic attacks, i also became agaoraphobic. what really helped me was paxil. gradually i was able to drive further and further and not be scared and get back to a sort of decent life. i was also perscribed klonopin for when i feel like i am having a panick attack. i have not experienced any negative side effects from either one. i've been on paxil for 7 years, it saved my life."

clcalifornia replied: "There is adivan and Xanax I woud suggest some therapy that would walk you though your things you fear and change the thoughts in your miind that works on convincing you to be afraid. It can be done"

Mike J replied: "Lexapro is a little rough to start. Good luck, just stick to your plan - and don't hurt yourself anymore! Please - when you are hurting yourself, you are hurting me - remember that - and I don't deserve to hurt any more! I've been through enough!"

Megz replied: "Lexapro does eventully work it takes about a week. OMG i take Lexapro to! Cool! I started taking it when I started having panic attacks and depression."

Mr. Sonny replied: "I recommend Xanax for a short period of time. It can be addicting but is safer than Valium. It helped me with my panic attacks & it also has anti-depression properties. You must consult with your physician for further advice & any prescribing information. Good luck!"

Lea replied: "Preferred drugs for acute panic are the benzodiazepines like valium. For chronic panic, like you have, the preferred first line drugs which are FDA approved drugs are Zoloft and Paxil, and ones which are preferred but not FDA approved are Lexapro, Celexa, Prozac, or Luvox. With any of these kinds of drugs, stopping cold turkey is very bad. To get any effect from the Lexapro, it will take 3-4 for partial effect and about 8 weeks for full effect. You are on a good drug, but it will take a while. If money is an issue, Zoloft and Prozac have generics."

Hello Stephy replied: "I was diagnosed with social anxiety disorder with slight agoraphobia a few years ago. I dropped out of school because of it, and wouldn't get a job, and basically did nothing with my life because of my fears. I was put on Paxil, and it did wonders. I am a full time college student graduating this semester, I have had two stable jobs, and I am not as depressed as I was during those years."

mark f replied: "you can get withdrawal symptoms from lexapro although it wouldn't be as bad as a sedativ hypnotic withdrawal like valium. It depends how you define addiction but all drugs that work on the mind are capable of producing withdrawal symptoms. If you are concerned about withdrawal symptoms or addiction or dependence maybe you should just try drug free solutions like counselling or CBT. You should not cold turkey psychotropic drugs. Best to wean off of them over several months at least to reduce withdrawal effects. Improve your diet as well, eat healthy, cut out caffeine, alcohol and artificial sweetners."

Advice Please replied: "Social anxiety can cause these feelings, which can also lead to severe depression, ... There is hope; I've been there, and still am there, it is a long, hard struggle. I recommend Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)... worked best for me, with mild anti-anxiety meds. I suffered from social anxiety for over 15 years. I've tried individual therapy, and group therapy and studied psychology for 10 years, as a profession, but also with the hope to cure myself. Depending on your comfort level, you could go to a psychologist that practices CBT and specializes in anxiety disorders, seek a group therapy, or create one. Usually those that do attend the group therapy are a bit more high functioning because as you know, it can be difficult to speak in a group. Another idea is to see if there are any local research studies being conducted that you could participate in. The program that finally worked the best for me is this one:... and I was lucky enough to have a structured behavioral group to go along with it. Sometimes the people that actually attend this program come back home and form groups. I recommend a mild anti-anxiety med, and a beta-blocker (it will reduce shaking and tremors enormously, but only use in extreme situations) in addition to CBT therapy. Any questions, let me know ... I can't tell you how much this has improved my life!"

Is Lexapro like ecstacy? I'm taking Lexapro right now for treating my panic-attacks and anxiety and was wondering if it acts in the opposite way ecstasy does? I heard it holds in your serotonin. What would this do to me? I have constant fears of things like I am going to die and paranoid of little things. How does this medication work to counter that? I don't want to be on a drug that alters/damages my brain permanently. I used to be on Geodon (for only 3-4 months) and I think that really affected my brain chemistry even up to now because it made me become more lax and care-free. Now, however, that care-free blanket has come off and replaced by paranoia and anxiety. How can this be? I'm 19 so is it that my body's changing? Is medication the answer?

Yaybob replied: "Lexapro is not known to have any permanent effect on the brain that persists after the drug is discontinued. It is an SSRI - a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor antidepressant, meaning that its mechanism of action is to prevent serotonin that has been releases into neural synapses to have a longer duration of effect by not being sucked back up from the synapse so quickly. Ecstasy acts on the same neurotransmitter, also to increase its presence, but in a different manner with much more dramatic effects, some of which ARE permanent, unlike with Lexapro. SSRI's like Lexapro interfere with the ability of ecstasy to cause euphoria: From "Mechanism of Action "The primary mechanism of action of MDMA is a potent release of brain serotonin as well as inhibition of serotonin reuptake. MDMA does NOT cause release of serotonin via exocitosis of serotonin containing secretory vesicles. Rather, MDMA uses a unique mechanism that causes a reverse in the direction of the normal inward bound serotonin reuptake channel. So that the high concentrations of serotonin within the cell flood OUT through the transporter channel. This causes a sudden increase in serotonin in the synapse and at the same time blocks reuptake. This causes a rapid and profound acute depletion of serotonin within 3 to 6 hours. "MDMA itself is taken up into the cell via the serotonin uptake channel and/or through diffusion across the membrane. Once within the cell MDMA is known to deplete stores of tryptophan hydroxylase (TPH) via acute oxidative inactivation. The loss of this enzyme leaves the cell terminal open to damage from oxidative stress. This is most likely the reason for serotonergic cell terminal damage seen with MDMA abuse and the most likely explanation for the long-term seroternergic damage. "Pre-treatment with a serotonin reuptake inhibitor, such as paroxetine (Paxil ®), fluoxetine (Prozac ®), sertraline (Zoloft ®) [and escitalopram = Lexapro] blocks the effects of MDMA. This is probably a competitive event at the serotonin reuptake transporter binding site. Additionally, treatment within one hour of MDMA ingestion with a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor blocks the loss of tryptophan hydroxylase (TPH), and potentially reduces the nerve terminal damage." ------------- EDITORIAL I don't know if medication is the answer for you, but I don't know of a better one, though plenty of people are glad to tell you any nonsense that occurs to them or that they hope is true. I'm a physician, but I'm not an authority on this subject - just trying to help with what I do know. Geodon is a little more problematic than Lexapro. It is an atypical antipsychotic, a newer class of medication than the SSRI, and one associated with weight gain and glucose intolerance (a tendency toward diabetes). Personally, I'm suspicious of any drug that the (American) FDA approves or has approved in the last several years - a paranoia of my own due to my feelings that the pharmaceutical industry is happy to use us as guinea pigs and that the government appears willing to help them release drugs prematurely, bury damning data and falsify the results of studies. Although I don't have much experience with it and therefore have no reason to have confidence in it yet, it sounds like the Geodon helped you, however, and that says a lot. I think that if you have disabling psychological problems, you have to be willing to consider facing the risks of the drugs since there are risks and costs in doing nothing. Incidentally, this kind of thinking affects all of my decisions about prescribing drugs. I just don't trust who’s making them nor who's supervising that process, but I don't think that I should let those fears paralyze me and cause me to cause my patients to miss out from their benefits either, so I prescribe (including to myself) many such drugs with my fingers crossed. After all, I don't thik that the pharmaceutical companies are trying to hurt us, just that they are willing to do so if it turns out that despite their best efforts to be helpful and after spending hundreds of millions of dollars to get a drug to market it turns out that there was an unseen harm. You have to judge for yourself which risk you'd rather take: treatment or nontreatment. If the results seem beneficial, at least you're getting something for your efforts."

Is Lexapro a bad drug? I'm taking Lexapro right now for treating my panic-attacks and anxiety and was wondering if it acts in the opposite way ecstasy does? I heard it holds in your serotonin. Robyn H replied: "pills change your natural body hormones and natural chemicals in your brain, usually people with natural depression have lesser amounts of serotonin in the brain then someone who doesnt have depresion, the pills you take help you produce more serotonin, or do something with the brain involving serotonin it doesnt work opposite of ecstasy, it works one step ahead of ecstasy, ecstasy spills all your serotonin into your brain, and the pills you take just make the serotonin serotonin is good it makes you feel good, its the one of the major parts in your system it controls mood, sleep, apetite, sexual ability and desire, depression and weight control, the reason why u have anxiety now is because your naturally supposed to have it, theres somehing wrong with your brain so you need to take the pills to be normal, lol not trying to be mean those are just simplier words, well good luck also ecstasy helps with anxiety so maybe you should get your hands on some :)"

i have lexapro and..? im thirteen. i just started lexapro. but the problem is i have only 16 pills because my doctor just prescribed them to me, and he gave it to me for free because he thinks it should help. the problem is that school is just in 2 days. almost 1. i want this med to help me. but i hear that it take 2 weeks to get the body to get used to it. my mom wont let me have anymore medications except the 16 pills he gave me. please help...

shelle4392 replied: "I have taken the same thing and I think that it helps faster than that. You will be ok and it will start to take full effect just give it a couple of days. One thing I like to do is yoga it really relives stress and emotions"

Marshall replied: "I am not a doctor, but I can speak from experience about lexapro. 1) It does take a week or so to take full effect, but it builds during that time, it does not just start working on day 14. 2) Starting and stopping this medicine is terrible, it makes things much, much worse. Stick to what your Dr. told you to take and when. Go back when he told you to come back, but don't start it and stop it without talking to your Dr. first."

zen replied: "You can only take one pill a day . The doc gave you over a two week's supply. After that, you will tell the doc how your'e feeling and if your mood seems better. I like Lexipro. After a couple weeks, I started coming out of my depression, and I was really in a "dark place". Plus, I had anxiety. Your'e feeling right now the first day of school jitters, which 99.9% of kids are right now. You'll all be feeling the same way believe me, except for the.1% who doesn't count.ha! Listen to mom, she knows what to do. Check back with us in a couple weeks, ok? I'll bet you'll be feeling pretty good!"

sarah replied: "Any antidepressant out there takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks to feel the effect. At 2 weeks it is highly unlikely you would see any significant change. Also, the use of antidepressants for anyone under the age of 18 should be carefully monitored. THe risk of suicidal ideation is much greater. I am assuming depression is the main reason for this medication. To be honest after being on them for 4 yrs they will only help so much. Basically they only do enough to get you feeling decent enough so you can work on the problems that are causing the depression. Have you considered asking your mom about some talk therapy. For me it made the difference. If I had to choose between drugs and therapy it would have been therapy. I guess my suggestion would be to be honest with your mom about how you are feeling and your concerns and what you want to help. Also did your doctor run any blood work when you started this. Sometimes depressive symptoms can be a part of another illness like hyperthyroidism. Your doc should have ruled out other causes. Also did your doc say to come back in the 2 wks or what? Once one of these drugs build in your symptoms it can be very bad to go off them cold turkey. IF you want more please email me."

softballchickie87 replied: "It's good that your doctor gave you the free samples, that is exactly what my doctor did for me this summer. I actually found that the lexapro helped me calm down pretty quickly from some pretty terrible axiety that I was having. After a week of taking the medicine, where 4 of those days were just half a pill, I felt considerably better. It's a good medication and I hope it helps you. Stick with what your doctor gave you because you will start to feel a difference before those sixteen days are up if the medicine is going to work for you. Make sure you go to a follow up appointment before those sixteen days are up so you can get a prescription from your doctor or try a different medicine if it doesn't work for you."

Alexis R replied: "This medication will start working at around 2-6 weeks. You and your mom need to consult your doctor again. It isn't a good idea for your mother to not allow you to take anymore after the 16 pills. Its not healthy to stop this medication abrubtly. If your mother won't allow you to take anymore after the 16, you shouldn't take them at all. You need to be slowly weaned off this drug when you plan to stop taking it. You can experience withdrawal symptoms if you abruptly stop taking them. Some people experience brain shocks and severe anxiety if they just stop taking this medication cold turkey. You should re-consult your dr and have him talk to your mother. This isn't a drug you can take and then just stop one day. I take Lexapro and all the literature about this drug tell your specifically to not stop this cold turkey. You need to continue taking this medicationa after the 16 pills that your dr gave you. Otherwise, you might experience the withdrawal symptoms that i listed."

Would A SSRI be good or bad for my situation? I have been anxious for years. Ive been prescribed zoloft a long time ago and it did absolutley nothing for me. I stoped and tried to go med free. Recently i've noticed I havn't been doing things I would usually do because of the thought "What If" stuck in my head. My doctor prescribed a medication named "Escitalopram aka Lexapro". I am very nervous trying a drug that affects my brain. I feel like god forbid I take it and go crazy and end up in a mental home. I have heard good and bad things about this drug, I heard people go crazy, and I also heard good stories. When I was a 13 I took "Ritalin" for ADHD and had a seizure. I stoped! Doctors say it was from going through puberty, not the Ritalin. I NEVER have seizures, but ive been scared to try anything else. Now im sitting here with this SSRI hesitating to take it because of all these crazy thoughts in my head. Im healthy and i just want my life back. Someone please help, Is this a "OK" drug to be on? Im to scared about everything. Help By the way, My age is 21 now. I Do not have any health problems regarding seizures. Maybee ritalin was a bad thing to take at such a young age. I do blame that for my one and only seizure.

Lilly replied: "Have you discussed your anxiety issues with your perscribing Doctor? they have other drugs for anxiety! xanxax being the number 1. If you have discussed all your info and anxiety and bad reaction to the ADHD medicine then I think your perscribing Doctor would know best. The medicine DOES take a few weeks to have total affect. So it's not like if you take it you will die. YOU CAN ALWAYS STOP the medicine IF you don't like it. Just keep your doctor in the know!"

causalitist replied: "its not that powerful. its going to be similar to zoloft. i wouldnt worry about it.. your not going to go crazy lol. if your that worried then take half for a few days.. i bet the first time u take it it will seem powerfull, JUST because of your expectations.. but that would be pure placebo.. like i said, its not a very powerful drug like ritalin."

I NEED LEXAPRO very depressed? Hi i dont have insurance or money can anyone tell me where i can get free samples till i get insurance to cover my medication? Thank you very depressed

sanbox69 replied: "ask your doctor"

lisa1cares replied: "see your doctor they can give you samples/"

Mike Mohrmann replied: "As a one-time Lexapro user, I must strongly urge you to be VERY careful when using this as it worked as a very potent sedative for me."

mcdannells replied: "Go to your doctor and get a diagnoses. Self diagnoses can be dangerous when you are seeking out drugs for something you think you have. Get diagnosed first then drugs second, not the other way around. It is better for your health, there are side effects with those mind altering drugs out there...."

enchanted replied: "You can only get free samples through your doctor. A lot of pharmaceutical companies have plans that help or pay for the medication if you can't afford it. Ask your doctor about that too."

Tyanna M replied: "My family is on low income and I take Prozac for depression which we were able to get for free. Go to whichever doctor you normally go to and tell him/her your symptoms and he should be able to determine if Leprexo is right or if you need something else. Some doctors give out free professional samples and maybe you could get enough to last you a couple of weeks until you get your insurance. If he doesnt have any, just ask around to see if he knows of anywhere you can get some. Dont worry. I know what depression is like, just hang in there until you can get this medication. Good luck!"

Ever stopped Lexapro ? Is there ANYONE out there that has been able to stop this awful drug? I so want to be off of it, and my doctors knows I'm weaning myself off of it, but I find so many posts by folks that have been forced to start taking it again because of the terrible withdrawals. Is there ANYONE who successfully stopped this medication and how long did the withdrawal symptoms last. And, were you able to stop and be "med-free" or did you have to turn to something else to help?

Inot replied: "I went off of it twice. Both times sucked!! The first time I weaned myself off following my doctor's advice and was miserable the whole time. If felt nauseous, dizzy, spaced out, confused, unable to focus both visually and mentally. The weirdest thing was trying to put sentences together, I could assemble thoughts in my head but I couldn't put together anything verbally. The second time I went off I did it my way by decreasing the dosage over a longer period of time. I think it took me about 8 weeks. I was still miserable. Not quite as bad as the first time but the same symptoms. Maybe it wasn't as bad because I knew what to expect. I ended up taking a three day weekend off of work the day after I took the last dosage. I was in bed all weekend with flu like symptoms. Freaky feeling both times-When I turned my head it felt like it took my brain about 2 seconds to catch up. As bad as it was coming off I felt much better emotionally once the physical misery passed. I've been off of it for about six months and I feel normal again. The last year I was on it I didn't feel anything, I was emotionally numb. Not everyone has the same symptoms; you might not have any withdrawal issues. If you’re going to off of it or you’re in the process just know that it will pass and you will feel better emotionally and physically."

Alexis R replied: "My sister is currently weaning herself off of it and she is almost done. She now cuts a 10 mg tablet into 4 pieces and takes one piece every 2 days. She's only doing it for a couple more days and then will be done. When she first starting weaning, she took half a tablet every day for a couple of weeks and then starting quartering the tablets and taking a piece everyday, then she went to every other day. She felt really dizzy and tired sometimes. But, it hasn't been that bad for her, she can still function normally and go to work."

Should i go to my medical doctor? I have major anxiety and depression. I am still in high school, but anxiety and depression has very much stopped me from living my life. The only person that understands is my father. My mother cares and loves me so much, but she doesn't want me to depend on medication. I was prescribed lexapro and it worked amazingly. I really want to go back to lexapro medication and give myself self therapy. Honestly, i don't know why my mom doesn't care? I am always down and sad and depressed with major worry and anxiety, but i am NOT suicidal. If i go back to my doctor, i am confident enough he will just give me the medications, but i am really scared he will see me as a weak person, when really i wanted to go talk to him for almost two years about this, how can i just tell him without feeling so weak about my situation? do you think my father will agree on the medication, (which he will) and will let me take it without my moms knowing ? i am practicing on telling my dad on taking me to the doctor because this is a HUGE step towar a happy and free life, but how can i just face it. Do you think it is a good idea to take the meds with my dad knowing and my mom not knowing?

scorpgoddess replied: "I think you need the love and support of both your parents if possible. I'm sure your Mom cares, maybe she just doesn't know how to show or or is scared for you. Don't think of yourself as weak, we all need a little help once and a while and that's what medication is, help to get you better. It will give you a chance to learn how to deal and develop other coping mechanisms so that eventually you won't need the meds anymore. Go to the Dr, hold your head high - this is a big step and you should be proud of yourself for taking it. Tell both of your parents, actually sit down with them and talk about this, that could help you as well. I wish you luck and good health."

Ask if she would be willing to find you a therapist to help you out instead and agree that if that doesn't work to let you go back on the meds. I don't recommend asking to take medicine behind her back because that would be a lot of undue stress on your relationship with your mom and between your parents. Your mom loves you and making her feel like she can't trust you isn't a good idea. Don't be afraid to talk to your doctor, he/she will more likely see you as strong for being willing to face up to your problems than weak for asking for help. Your doctor may be a good advocate for you, see if your mom would be willing to shedule an appointment with the doctor so that you can all talk about the medicine and discuss your other options."
