Azithromycin Treatment For Chlamydia? Hey.. I was just tested postivite for chlamydia.. and i need some support. I don't take medication, haven't for 3 years. I'm natural. I just have some questions, I hope to get them all answered. I'd read about allergic reactions to antibiotics... If I have taken penicillin, ammoxocillin, macrobid... all antibiotics, would I be okay? Because Azithromycin is an anti biotic too. Also, what are the side effects? How long will it take to cure? I've heard anywhere from 2 days to a week. Any other oppinions? Please dont post links, I want someone who knows a lot about this to give some accurate and reassuring and honest information. I just want as much info as possible.. Thank you guys! lol I know,I haven't taken ALL antibiotics.. I mean, I have taken Macrobid, Penicillin, and ammoxocillin... are they in the same family as azithromycin? If I have taken those pills before, would it probably be safe to take this pill? ---- The health center said I'll have to take 4 tablets all at once.. what should I do? I don't think the chances of reaction are THAT high.. but i dont know

fatsy replied: "There are a lot of antibiotics available so im pretty sure you cannot possibly have taken them all. But if youve taken Azithromycin before, then you're definitely no allergic to it. Most common side effect of the drug is nausea, vomiting, headache, diarrhea 3-5 days No, they're of different kind. Since you're not sure if you're allergic to it. i suggest you cut 1 tablet by half and take 1/2 of it and observe for allergic reactions like rash, itchiness, difficulty of breathing. If you dont feel anything after hour take the other half. You can then take the subsequent tablet as whole since you're now sure that you're not allergic Take the remaining tablets(as a single dose) afetr one hour."

K replied: "Take those medications! If left untreated, chlamydia can cause permanent pelvic pain and infertility. Also the person who gave you chlamydia needs to be treated as well, or else you'll just get reinfected. Just take all 4 tablets if you haven't already, the chances of a life threatening allergic reaction are pretty low. I'm more worried about the chlamydia. Azithromycin is in a different class than penicillin, amoxicillin. Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic."

Does masturbating affect chlamydia treatment? I took azithromycin to cure my chlamydia, it's supposed to take a week to cure it, but if I masturbated during that week would it affect the treatment in anyway? like would the bacteria get on my fingers and I would possibly transfer it back to myself if I touch my vagina again?

Amanda replied: "Masturbation won't affect your treatment. Just make sure you wash your hands to avoid spreading the bacteria to your mouth and eyes."

DOH ! replied: "This little rascal can affect guys too. It can be spread back and forth if only one party gets treated. Ask your doctor about treatment for any sexual companions, male or female."

J replied: "You should ask your doctor if it takes one week to go through your system"

unknown. replied: "It usually takes one week for the STD to go away. If you really want to have sex with him then do the simple thing and use a condom. I hope he's not the one you got infected with either, if he is and you're still with him I feel sorry for you LOL"

I was tested positive for chlamydia and I took 4 azithromycin 250mg dosage. I had sex 2 days later and I? I was tested positive for chlaymedia and I took 4 azithromycin 250mg dosage. I had sex 2 days later and I also used a condom, but i recieved oral. Did having sex postpone the treatment of the azithromycin and do you think my parnter recieved the STD from giving oral?

abominusprime replied: "well the fact that you had sex 2 days after you were diagnosed with an STD proves to me that you are an idiot. hmmmmm.....lets seeeee.......just got a disease.....lemme go give it to someone else!!! yeah! that'll work. god you're stupid. its people like you that SPREAD disease to begin with. heres a tip: if you get diagnosed with an std........GET RID OF IT BEFORE YOU HAVE SEX AGAIN!!! especially if its a cureable one!! then you wont have to be on here asking stupid questions and proving to the world what a moron you are. and to answer your question, yes, she most likely did "recieve" it from either the oral or the sex itself. now thanks to you SHE has to go get treatment. good job skippy."

babyblue218513 replied: "A lot of meds stop the virus or bacteria growth in 24 hours. But not true on a lot of them. You need to tell your partner, i don't know about your state, but in Texas that's a felony, aggravated deadly assault with a weapon, because you knew about. Crazy i know but true. Plus its the right thing to do. Also, is the the partner you got it from? If so, you have got it back, and yes most all STDs my live in the throat and can be spread that way."

bennyd317 replied: "well, you probably did....... your partner now how your SDT. I hope that you are happy with yourself."

timmy boomstick replied: "When taking that, you are suppose to abstain from sex for atleast a week. So it is highly possible that your partner have became a statistic. The throat can also transfer diseases like hotcakes...."

chlamydia is their any way to get treatment? is there any over the counter treatment for Chlamydia that you can get form Wal-mart? like azithromycin

Terry J replied: "No, afraid not. Chlamydia requires Rx medications. Go to the health office if you need to, but get treated. It is not something to mess around with."

arch571332 replied: "CHLAMYDIA IS CURABLE! Drug companies just don't want you to know it. MMS (chlorine dioxide) has cured my friends and myself of: Herpes 1 & 2, Chlamydia, HPV, cold & flu in 15 minutes, and cancer. I do not have a friend with AIDS to test it on yet but its suppose to cure every pathogen on earth. Look up mms and Jim Humble on the net and read about it. My friends and I know from first hand experience that it works. The prostitute at the free clinic agreed to take it. She had Chlamydia and genital herpes. I gave her a 6 drop dose on three separate days. Her doctor cannot find either anymore! POWER TO THE PEOPLE, NOT THE DRUG COMPANIES!"

Chlamydia treatment?? I was prescribed azithromycin to treat chlamydia. I was given 4 pills, 250mg each. I remember my doctor saying it is a one day treatment but how? All 4 at once? 2 and then 2 later? Any insight would be helpful

Mary Boo replied: "My little cousin tested positive for chlamydia and she was treated for it. She was given 2 pills and the doctor told her to wait 7 days before having sex? She waited 5 days and had sex. How long did it take for the pills to be in affect? is it possible for her to affect her partner. Only people who have knowledge about this respond please! MORE "

Crazy Christian replied: "Read the directions on the prescription bottle or call the pharmacy and tell them you lost it. Better safe than sorry. Chances are you got a 2 day treatment to 'make sure' but I wouldn't know for sure. Good luck and use a condom. Remember....if he won't use a condom with you....chances are he didn't use one with the last girl. Or visa versa if you're a guy!"

Stephanie W replied: "all four at once...hence one treatment"

chlamydia treatment not working......? I took one dose of azithromycin which was four pills for chlamydia...i dont think the treatment is working. I took the pills a week ago and im going to get retested again tomorrow i think and im very scared that i might still have it. Are the antibiotics still working? Should my symptons have gone away sooner?

Ashkey replied: "Chlamydia does not just go away. STD's treat the symptoms SOMETIMES, as the virus is ever growing. You may try something else, but realize it will never just go away, I hope I helped. (:"

Nick Z replied: "Quite often people get infected with two or three different bacteria and/or viruses at the same time. Which means that the drug you've taken may not be effective against all the infections you might have. And if you still have symptoms after treating Chlamydia infection. Then possibly you are also infected with some other organism against which Azithromycin doesn't work. It's also possible that your strain of Chlamydia has acquired drug resistance against Azithromycin. But that's unlikely. As far as I know, no one has yet found any strains of Chlamydia which are resistant to Azithromycin."

sa_2006 replied: "Please visit your doctor again since there is succeptability to have another course of treatment and some lab. test :Chlamydia is easily treated, but it’s important for you to seek testing and get treatment right away. By seeking testing and getting treated, you are taking good care of your reproductive health. If you have chlamydia: Get it treated right away. Visit a clinic, doctor, or nurse. Research suggests that having an STD increases your risk for getting infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Follow your doctor’s orders and finish all the medicine that you are given. Even if the symptoms go away, you still need to finish all of the medicine. Avoid having any sexual activity while you are being treated for chlamydia. Tell your sexual partners, so they can be treated too. Get a follow-up test three to four months after treatment to make sure that the infection has been cured. See your doctor again if your symptoms do not disappear within one to two weeks after finishing the medicine. See your doctor again within 3 to 4 months for another chlamydia test, especially if your sex partner was not treated or if you have a new sex partner."

House replied: "Hey, Ree - Nick and SA both have great answers. Just to add, the standard dose of azithromycin (Zithromax) for treatment of Chlamydia is a single one-gram dose (250mg tab x4). The treatment standard also used to include Rocephin (ceftriaxone) 250mg IM (injection) for treatment of Gonorrhea at the same time, since studies had shown that, if a person was infected with either Chlamydia trachomatis or Neisseria gonorrhea, the chances of co-infection with the other bacteria were very high. However, according to Sanford's Guide to Antimicrobial Therapy (2005 ed.), the treatment for Chlamydia in N. Carolina was with one of the tetracycline-family drugs due to the presence of a drug-resistant strain of Chlamydia. I realize the treatment guidelines have changed since then, now more due to a fluoroquinolone (drugs like Cipro and Levaquin) - resistant strain of Neisseria gonorrhea. The symptoms of chlamydia and gonorrhea may still last up to 7 days after treatment. That's why it's really important to not engage in sexual activity during that time, AND until you're re-tested. Good luck and be well."

adaJ replied: "azithromycin doesn't work for all chlamydia. my friend also has this problem. She has blog on the std dating & social site called pozcupid .com. You may ask her."

crazy replied: "Yes you are cured the 1st response is completely uneducated it is bacterial and they kill it (antibiotics)"

what is the likelyhood of reinfecting with chlamydia if you use a condom immeadiatly after taking azithromycin? I just found out I had it and took the one dose treatment. It says you shouldnt have sex after but I got drunk and did it anyways. I used a condom though. Just because I used the condom I would assume I am ok and did not spread it or reinfect myself. I will get retested in about 2 weeks but I`d hate to worry about it....

armyguy replied: "if there was ne contact before the condom including oral than you have a possib."

Kennedy replied: "i dont think your supposed to drink while your on that stuff"

Lily replied: "After being HIV Positive! HIV is not something people can nor should they go through alone. To all of us who positive stay strong and need people to win this fight, whether it's family, friends or a support group, people are the key. stdloving.com is such a free site."

i took 2 tablets of (azithromycin 500 mg) equivalent to 1.0 g. will it cure my chlamydia in a single dose? i just took (azithromycin zythromax dihydrate 500 mg x2) 2 tablets in a single dose that is equivalent to 1.0 g. will it cure my chlamydia? Is it the right treatment or medication for my disease?

savilliville replied: "Chlamydia can be easily treated and cured with antibiotics. A single dose of azithromycin or a week of doxycycline (twice daily) are the most commonly used treatments. HIV-positive persons with chlamydia should receive the same treatment as those who are HIV negative. All sex partners should be evaluated, tested, and treated. People with chlamydia should abstain from sexual intercourse until they and their sex partners have completed treatment, otherwise re-infection is possible. Women whose sex partners have not been appropriately treated are at high risk for re-infection. Having multiple infections increases a woman's risk of serious reproductive health complications, including infertility. Retesting should be encouraged for women three to four months after treatment. This is especially true if a woman does not know if her sex partner received treatment. i hope for the best. ~Savilliville"

mahmoodilipoor replied: "u should take 4 tablets in a single dose."
