amoxicillin and tylenol combined for infants? My 6 month old son is on amoxicillin for an ear infection but still has a temperture. I gave hime Tylenol (infant's kind) and he crashed. Fell asleep in less than 5 minutes. He doesn't do that normally. Can you not combine the two?

E M replied: "Yes it's fine to give him tylenol with the antibiotic. He probably crashed because his body is fighting off an infection. It takes longer than 5 minutes for the tylenol to kick in. I doubt the tylenol made him fall asleep that fast."

ChantelleWilliams replied: "Yeah you can give the two, its probably just because it kicked in and he was finally feeling enough relief to actually get some sleep. I have found that the childrens motrin is the best for fevers and the kids generally like the taste better."

Can I give my 7 month old son infant tylenol with amoxicillin? He got his "last" dose of shots today and was found to have an ear infection as well. So he is currently teething, and has a fever on top of the ear infection and shots. Poor baby! Can I give him infant tylenol to help ease the teething and fever on top of the prescribed amoxicillin?

You should NEVER get any vaccinations while you are sick or have an infection... It's going to really overload his immune system. Basically, they put substances (aluminum is one, i know) in vaccines to weaken the immune system so that the body will react to the virus in the vaccine. You poor baby got a double blow! Don't give him tylenol... I know its hard, but it will be better for his system to work it out on its own. Tylenol is just one more thing the body has to fight against and filter out. Give him probiotics to help with the anti-biotics and lots of love. My little guy was super-sick this weekend, so I can empathize with you. It's so hard to see them that way."

is it good to mix aspirin with amoxicillin or tylenol pm? There is no problem with the amoxicillin but I would suggest you to stop with the tylenol. aspirin will work good as pain killer. In any case if you have doubts and you cant contact a doctor, you can wait a few days until you finish with the antibiotic for your tooth and then start with the aspirin. good luck"

That's not good, because if you continue to take your antibiotics the way the doc told you to, the concentration of amoxicillin in your blood could reach toxic levels. Now, instead of decreasing the dose of your antibiotics yourself or doing anything else dangerous, see a physician about it. They'll be able to tell you if it's safe. Until then, lay off the aspirin!"

How much long term harm does amoxicillin* and Tylenol 3 do to the body? also Vicodin? My dentist has me on them for pain because of my root canals and the other one because I had developed an abcess.

dylansmom25 replied: "none .. you wont be on them long enough to do any damage.. amoxicillan is an antibiotic.. you should not be on vicodin and tylenol 3 at the same time.. they are both painkillers and I wouldnt reccommend mixing them.."

melissa m replied: "Vicodin has tylenol in it. If you are taking vicodin and tylenol 3 stop and call your physician. To much tylenol can cause harm to your liver. The liver is what metabolizes the tylenol and most medications. Vicodin and Tylenol 3 are also both addictive. If your not hurting that bad you should try some Ibuprofen first and then only take the others when the ib doesn't help. Be sure you follow your dr's directions and do not overmedicate."

dawnstar replied: "amoxicillin-only affect is becoming immune to it tylenol-hurts liver and stomach. use it a lot and it could cause ulcers. when you take and pain medicine, the only reason it works is the chemicals in it makes the liver secrete its own pain defense. without your liver cooperating, the pain medication would do nothing. using a lot of pain meds can hurt your liver over time. vicodin-narcotic risk of becoming addicted. relax though. it is only a short term use for you. all of these will be fine."

cactuar2k replied: "Rather than tylenol, I'd suggest ketoprofen that is an anti-inflamatory. Tylenol is an antipyretic. (It's better for fever and head-aches) Also, don't have more than 3 pills a day. (8 hours in between)"

Hannah's mommy replied: "what is she on the amoxicillin for?? Normally, doctors only suggest rotating the tylenol and motrin IF they have a high fever. If she doesn't have a fever, I don't know why she would need the pain relievers."

DanDan replied: "One dose Tylenol for 4 hours, then one dose Motrin for 6-8. What a nurse told me was Tylenol is best for keeping down a fever but Motrin is better for any pain. Motrin is just harder on their little tummies. My daughter had ear infections every month of her first year. Definitely give the full dose of Amox. and finish the whole prescription as directed. Don't stop just because she feels better. Good luck!"

This was to bring down her fever and as soon as the fever broke, she only got the antibiotic. Make sure to use the most basic kinds of Tylenol/Motrin,not a line specifically for congenstion/throat, ect..."

charleighsmum replied: "Im australian but i am going to assume tylenol and motrin are similar to our nurofen and panadol...one has paracetamol and the other has ibuprofen in it both are completely different drugs and can br used alternitively every three hours for a period of 48 hours. I was told this by a dr when my daughter had a very bad cold....i found the best thing to do wa to give her panadol 3 hours before she went to bed and then a dose of nurofen just as she went down.....just be careful not to use it like this unless needed they can build an immunity to it as well as it contributing to liver damage if used in high quantities all the time...."
